International TAIEX Workshop on Education Reforms and Student Well-Being
POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest was honoured to host a milestone event for the future of education in Romania and Europe - the International TAIEX Workshop on Education Reforms, organized by the Ministry of Education of Romania, in partnership with UNICEF Romania and the European Commission.
The event brought together government representatives, international experts, academics, and educational stakeholders for a high-level dialogue focused on some of the most important priorities in today’s education systems: combating school segregation, advancing inclusive education policies, and promoting students’ well-being and social-emotional learning.
A Strategic Dialogue on Inclusive and Innovative Education
The workshop provided a collaborative platform to analyse challenges, share good practices, and accelerate policy efforts for a more equitable and supportive learning environment.
Key themes discussed included:
🔹 Prevention and reduction of school segregation, with a focus on equal access to quality education for all students
🔹 Social-emotional learning (SEL) as a core component of modern education
🔹 Mental health and well-being in schools, understood as essential factors for academic success and healthy development
Participants explored how comprehensive support systems, evidence-based policies, and cross-sector collaboration can drive sustainable improvements in national and European education systems.
Launch of Romania’s First Well-Being & Mental Health Analysis in Schools
A key moment of the event was the official presentation of Romania’s first Well-Being and Mental Health Analysis among lower secondary students, based on nationwide school-level research, and represents a pioneering effort to better understand students’ emotional needs, stress factors, and overall school experience.
This analysis marks a significant step forward in shaping an education model that values not only academic results but also the holistic development and emotional resilience of every student.
The workshop was organized under the European Commission’s Technical Support Instrument (TSI) and supported by the TAIEX programme - demonstrating once again the importance of European partnerships in strengthening education policies and promoting best practices.
